Life Onboard the Viking Surkov

Viking Surkov travels the waterways between Moscow and St. Petersburg, exploring part of the vast network of rivers, lakes and inland seas that was Russia's first natural highway. While cruising the Volga, Svir and Neva Rivers you will be charmed by the country's overwhelming beauty. Ancient Russia comes to life in the famous Golden Ring cities of Yaroslavl and Uglich, with their historic kremlins and monasteries. Viking Surkov, built to European standards and extensively refurbished in 2007/ 2008 is now the best river cruise ship in Russia and features one restaurants and two bars, three walk-around open air promenade decks, a sun deck and doctor on board, with 106 comfortable outside staterooms each equipped with individual climate control.

On the Sun Deck you'll enjoy sunshine and fresh air while you take in 360-degree views of the scenery as you sail past palaces, towns, villages, fields and forests. Stand at the railings or relax in a comfortable deck chair cushions are available. Some of the seating has a canopy for those who prefer shade. The sun deck is adjacent to the Sky Bar and there is an access way to the bridge.

The Sky Bar is enclosed on the sun deck level it provides seating at small tables designed to accommodate 2, 4 or 6 guests. A fantastic location for relaxing with friends while enjoying the scenery through panoramic windows.

The Panorama Bar is enclosed at the forward end of the upper deck level. This bar seats 50 passengers and is an excellent spot for watching the scenery, especially during arrival at one of your exciting destinations.

The middle deck features one of the ship's three walk-around, open air Promenade Decks. You can watch the scenery from every possible vantage point or enjoy a romantic stroll around the ship any time of the day or evening.

The Library stocks approximately 80 books, in various languages but mostly English, and several games such as chess, backgammon and playing cards.

Forget to bring something? Looking for a magazine or some gift items? The Souvenir Shop on the main deck has everything you need to make your voyage comfortable and convenient.

The middle deck lobby area is a great place to get information during your journey. Your Cruise Manager's desk is located here, so that you can easily ask questions or discuss the day's activities. There is a 24-hour tea and coffee station with a fruit basket and convenient restrooms. There is a PA system so the day's events can be announced; there is also an Internet station in the lobby area, so you can check your email.

Our Chefs are trained in the finest European traditions, with specialties in French, German, Austrian and Swill Cuisine. You may try authentic European dishes such as Viennese schnitzel, Hungarian Goulas and Alsatian Sauerkraut and sausage. We also officer a fine selection of international and regional wines to complement any entree.

When you dine with Viking River Cruises, your needs are anticipated and your desires fulfilled with pleasure. This starts with our dining rooms, which feature extra large windows for unobstructed sightseeing. Also we offer open seating dining so you are free to make new friends. You'll love the elegance of dining on place settings of fine Norwegian china, Swiss cutlery, premium Indian cotton linens and German glassware.

To start your morning off right, a buffet breakfast is offered complete with a selection of fresh breads, eggs, cereal, pastries, cheese and European colds cuts, plus fresh fruit. Of course, you're also welcome to order from our selection of hot items prepared to order from our kitchen. For lunch, choose something light from the salads and sandwich bar or enjoy a homemade soup, choice of entrees and dessert. At Dinner, you'll look forward to our five-course gourmet menu with a choice of entrees including regional specialties like roast pork and Barbary duck breast and old favorites like roast beef and poached Salmon.

Thanks to the talent and creativity of our first-class chefs, every item on our menu is sure to satisfy and delight. For those with special dietary needs, we can also prepare low cholesterol, low sodium, vegetarian and diabetic selections with advance notice.
